SUPRA1 IS REALLY GOOD
by tron on Oct.18, 2009, under All Posts, Mix's, Shows & Events
If you have been to any event that tonewise or myself has been involved with then chances are that you have heard the punishing sound of SUPRA1 – the badman duo from Krakow, Poland. These two are newer members of the unstoppable Brooklyn based TROUBLE & BASS label and they seem to be poised for a little world bass domination of their own – EXPECT A BIG EP RELEASE ON TROUBLE & BASS LATER THIS YEAR.
They are about to start a mini North American tour later this week with their first stop at the T&B CMJ Showcase in New York on October 23rd. There second stop has them in Toronto on October 24th with a show at The Social. They will also be at The Faktory Loft afterparty later that night with Egyptrixx & Violca (Mansion). If you are in either city – don’t miss this rare chance to see SUPRA1 rinse it out!!!

Little Jinder – Polyhedron (SUPRA1 remix) ||zshare||mediafire|| —->>>This is possibly one of the most menacing tracks of the last few years and 100% is in my top 10 ever. It’s pretty much flawless!
Blackfinger – UMF (SUPRA1 remix) ||zshare||mediafire||
Rico Tubbs – Born To Bounce (SUPRA1 remix) ||zshare||mediafire||

As a bonus I have to post this B.RICH track I recently came across…laced with a dark enchanting vibe that makes you move. B.RICH is getting better and better with every track and his dupstep production is really on point these days. B.RICH is also REALLY GOOD!

HOT PINK DELOREAN
These guys were brand new to me until about 8 months ago now at SxSW’09.. I remember checking through the show listings and seeing the name, and to be honest at first thinking.. WTF.. but then shortly after thinking to myself fuck it, with a name like that these guys either suck or are completely fucked in a good way. I don’t remember much from that night while I write this.. I do remember by the time I reached the club they were at the place was a mess.. my hommie A.B and I had to rush a whiny ass club owner just to get through the door at 2am… well fucking worth it. inside there was a slew of incredible DJ’s and the system was on smash. I don’t even think they were supposed to play the club but I guess they were there and jumped on.. if memory serves me right Atrak, Drop The Lime and some other well known names were in the house that night too… this was like the second night of it all too.. fuck what a mess, SxSw 2010 I see you…

QUE BAJO! Muthafuckas (Uproot Andy & Geko Jones)
by Tonewise on Sep.10, 2009, under All Posts, Mix's, Shows & Events

Geko Jones and Uproot Andy teamed up with the crew at the Fader/Ghetto Palms to toss out a lil preview mix in support of their new tour. This is a nice lil 30+ min mix that is sure to get any night started.. below is an expert taken from the GP/Fader page, you can read the post in full here.
Que Bajo! Mini Mix ||Zshare Alt. Link||
–>
This is a Que Bajo mix. It marks the first time we (Uproot Andy and Geko Jones) are touring together, taking the sound that we’ve been building at the Que Bajo parties in New York and bringing it to cities across the country.
“Manuelita” – The first track is a remix we’ve just made of a traditional style Colombian bullerengue song. Doing these kinds of remixes blending folkloric music with club music is one of the sounds that has come define our party and this kind of remix has itself really become traditional for us over the last year or so.
“Puchi Puchi Lockoff” (Uproot Andy Mash Up) – This is a mash up of the Chimpo dubstep tune “Lockoff” with a vocal from El 5to Elemento. There’s also a pretty typical Mexican Tribal Guarachero sample in there among other added percussion.
“Cuka” – Batida are based in Lisbon and making really dope kuduro that samples more traditional kinds of Angolan music like Semba. You can see why we like this.
“Bruja” – Geko was introduced to DJ Buxxi on a trip to Colombia in April. We’ve been keeping an eye on him and he’s a really prolific producer, shouldering basically the whole island province of San Andres with insane dancehall meets chutney meets hip-hop meets zouk riddims.
“Gun Town” – Its the day after labor day and coming off the parkway we felt we wanted to have a Soca tune in here and even though this Maximus Dan tune on the Cello Riddim is at least a year old we really like how the rhythm in the hi-hats mirrors the scraper and maraca rhythms in most of the songs that appear on this mix. Also we really like the way he fits the melody from The Kinks’ “All Day and All of the Night” onto the riddim.
“Hold the Line” remix – This Frikstailers remix is in the Cumbia Villera style, that is the Argentinian street shit, but they do it really well, and bring in other influences like that dubstep wobble. Athough Frikstailers are from Argentina their style of cumbia is more international and you’ll almost always catch something of theirs in our DJ sets.
“Eres una Niña” – Flex has another, more controversial name. But we just like his version of Revolution Riddim, especially because it is essentially a cover of Barrington Levy’s “Here I Come” performed in Spanish. You might say this is traditional reggaeton, which is just another way of saying Dancehall.

Here is Excisions mix from this years set at Shambhala, I was live from the village stage for this one, and this mix killed it, set the night up large as Ewun came on right after him too… crazy night.

Check bottom of the post for the artwork, or click below to download (includes tracklist)
Here is a short video clip my hommie @MR_T_BROWNE took while we were getting ewok’d out in the village during this exact set…
Here is what he had to say himself about this mix:
Alright guys n gals, here is my yearly mix. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did playing it to 3000+ people in the Village stage @ Shambhala this year.
For any of you who want to hear what bass music is meant to sound like, I suggest you go to Shambhala Music Festival 2010 here in Canada and check out the what PK Sound does at the village stage. I have never heard such a clean, loud, and chest pounding system with such incredible bass. After talking to Spor, Ac Slater, and Ewun after my set, they all agreed it is the best sounding outdoor rig they have ever heard. 120,000 watts of pure PK sound, thank you PK for having me play on your system, it is the best in the world. People, definitely check this out next year, I don’t care how far away in the world you live.
Every track in this mix was sent to me by the producers that created them, thank you all for allowing me to put so many sick tracks together in this mix!!!!
You can grab it directly off Myspace. Big shouts go to Greg for hosting this mix.

by tron on Aug.14, 2009, under All Posts, Shows & Events
wow…what an insane week. we returned (alive) from shambhala last night and it was nothing short of the greatest party/festival/rave on the face of this earth…this is a fact that can’t be argued with. what goes down for four days on the salmo river ranch needs to be experienced by everybody first hand and if you have not heard of this mecca like festival – step ya google game up. we have a lot of content to bring you from the show and as soon as our brains cool down and stop sizzling we will hit you with some dope videos and interviews so be sure to check back…
A few things i learned on the ranch:
1. it is possible to fish for ravers
2. dj craze better watch his back the next time he is around benga
3. ac slater wins the heavy bass award (but i already knew this)
4. people in the british columbia interior must really like the movie willow

6. the holy temple of dub step is the village
7. never trust anybody named homer
8. the DIY philosophy is not dead
9. as far as live sets are concerned – get to know boogie army
10. no costume is the new costume

WoW x SHAMBHALA x BONKERS
by Tonewise on Aug.12, 2009, under All Posts, Shows & Events
soooooo yeah, in Salmo since about Thursday 9pm.. Enter Shambhala, str8 insanity.. no cell reception and the internet in the artist tent was not having heavy uploading.. we have some video to cut through for you.. but first we gotta get back east… next stop ripper parking lot with our two trucks?? soo many highlights but for now my top three I can remember before stopping to think was our neighboor Martin (boogy army) who clear cut the forest stage on sat night, boy8bit who I had never seen, and without a doubt made a ton of fucking noise and last but by no means least Bassy(AC) Slater. Many more were seen over the four days of madness.. hopefully all of our footage will turn out decent in the end.. “our camera man” was at his first trip to the mountain festival so he gets a pass.
shambhala 2009 – have you ever raved in the woods?
by tron on Aug.05, 2009, under All Posts, Shows & Events
so the time has come for the real ravers (14,000 deep) to gather at a private “farm” deep in the british columbia interior for four days of what will no doubt be muddy fun ~ shambhala 2009 ~ we here at no requests will be embarking on this epic journey so it goes without saying that the posts could be a little thin for the next week. butttt we have some major heat for you when we get back and hopefully we will have some good footage too. Tonewise and myself will also be spinning from 9 until 11 on sunday and we will make sure to get the recording.
that being said – we couldn’t leave you without some dope shit to step to // and from none other than ac slater. if you know me, then you know how i feel about ac…basically he is the heavy bass champ and can not be fucked with…don’t even try. looking forward to hearing him utterly destroy the fractal forrest this sunday…
